#ENDMPP

One year ago today, the federal government implemented its Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP, commonly referred to as the “Remain in Mexico” policy). MPP forces asylum seekers to return to and remain in Mexico through the duration of their asylum proceedings, depriving them of protection, and access to resources and assistance in the U.S., including legal aid. Initially starting as a pilot program at the San Ysidro Port-of-Entry, MPP has now expanded across the southern border. Help us shed light on the atrocities of MPP. You can use the images and suggested captions below so you can help us start a conversation about MPP on your social media platforms. ImmDef will be conducting MPP campaigns between 9:00 A.M. PST to 6:00 P.M. PST so we highly encourage you to post around these times and to tag our social media and share our posts. Facebook Twitter Instagram Thank you for supporting us and our clients.

BREAKING: Advocates are packing the courts all across the country to witness asylum seekers hearings. 60,000 families, men, women, and children are stuck in Mexico 1 year later because of failed “Remain in Mexico” (MPP) policy at the border. Asylum seekers are currently huddled in makeshift tents in freezing temperatures, children are traumatized witnessing and enduring violence, human rights abuses, and families are still being torn apart. This is a government failure and it is time to restore asylum now!

The government is eroding due process of asylum seekers and families at the border through their “Remain In Mexico aka MPP” Policy. Thousands of men, women, & children's rights are violated daily. The Department of Homeland Security’s federal prosecutors are controlling the process and in some cases restricting lawyers’ ability to meet with their clients. DOJ is controlling the immigration judges by limiting their authority and pre-determining certain legal outcomes from D.C.  MPP must end and we must restore asylum now!
