Today, a federal court ordered the Trump administration to release withheld funding for legal services for unaccompanied immigrant children by 12 p.m. PT on Friday, August 7, after nearly nine months of the administration failing to comply with the court’s preliminary injunction order.

Federal contracts that support legal services for unaccompanied immigrant children are set to expire on July 31, threatening to leave tens of thousands of vulnerable children without an attorney and without a meaningful opportunity to present their cases in immigration court.

A federal judge granted, in part, a preliminary injunction ordering the government to immediately remedy unconstitutional conditions at the Adelanto ICE Processing Center, and provisionally certified a class action on behalf of everyone detained at the facility.
