Immdef is Southern California's Largest Deportation Defense Non-Profit. Our team provides full‐scale deportation defense, legal representation, legal education, and connections to social services to approximately 3,000 detained or non-detained adults and children in Southern California annually.

CHILDREN'S REPRESENTATION PROJECT

Our program is one of the largest programs of its kind in the United States and currently provides full-scale removal defense representation services to more than 1,200 children. Through the Detained Youth Empowerment Project, each year we also provide Know Your Rights classes and legal services to over 1,000 unaccompanied children in Office of Refugee Resettlement shelters throughout the Greater Los Angeles area.

LITIGATION AND ADVOCACY

Judge Gavel

Immdef has developed a robust impact litigation and legal advocacy strategy on select cases in immigration and federal court, both at the initial and appellate level.  These advocacy efforts have grown following the 2016 presidential election

as we expect federal government enforcement efforts to

intensify. The time is now for California to show the rest of the nation who we are and what values we hold dear:

inclusivity, due process, and justice for all.

CBI

Cross-Border Services

Our Cross-Border Initiative team fights back every day against cruelty to migrants at the U.S. - Mexico border with a focus on assisting children and families.

Many of the clients we help face life-threatening medical

emergencies and threats to their life and safety.

Deported Veterans

ImmDef is one of very few nonprofit organizations providing deportation defense services to deported veterans.

Immigration legal services for deported Veterans are incredibly scarce in the United States. ImmDef provides representation to deported Veterans in post-conviction relief and immigration matters.

Post-Conviction Relief

Immigrants with interactions with the criminal justice system are primary targets for immigration authorities in the United States. ImmDef is one of the only nonprofits in California with

dedicated staff working to give immigrants the chance to

challenge deportations based on unlawful criminal convictions.

Community Defense

Beginning in 2017 ImmDef with the support of the County & City of Los Angeles, the City of Santa Ana, and later the City of Long Beach,  launched Locally Funded Initiatives to support our immigrant communities facing deportation and ICE prison. Our Locally Funded Initiatives support our immigrant communities and defend them against ICE attacks.

National Qualified Representatives (NQRP)

immdef's NQRP program provides representation for immigrants in detention who are entitled to court-appointed counsel because of serious mental disorders that render them unable to represent themselves.
