HELP US PROTECT SANTA ANA FAMILIES! Take Action today!

Action Alert! The City of Santa Ana is cutting our legal defense program for vulnerable Santa Ana residents in half unless you speak up at tomorrow's City Council meeting! CLICK HERE to PERSONALIZE & send an auto-populated email to submit a public comment in support of renewing the budget with full funding. Comment deadline is 7/7/20 at 4pm PST!

ImmDef is the only legal service provider within this program in Santa Ana and we have been able to reunite many clients with their families as well as reduce the amount of time in ICE prisons. The budget for the program was slashed in half from $200,000 to $100,000 during the last City Council meeting. In the same meeting the Council members agreed to increase the police budget by $9 million despite public outcry against it. The Santa Ana city budget is $326 million.

Our Director of Legal Services, Joyce Noche, spoke with Los Angeles Times saying, "What you see as part of police enforcement is the criminalization of immigration. These efforts of raising the budget of the police while decreasing a budget like ours, which is already quite modest, is unfortunate, and I think it doesn’t really speak to the need for resources like ours for Santa Ana residents.”

How to help:

Join us in emailing the city council to renew the deportation defense fund.

-Email the city at ecomment@santa-ana.org before 4pm PST on Tuesday, July 7th. Or click & personalize the email here: https://tinyurl.com/SADepDefFund
